For the second consecutive year, JBS, one of the world’s largest food companies, was acknowledged at the Best in ESG Awards of Exame magazine. This year, the company was victorious in the ESG Innovation category with the Green Offices project. The announcement was made on Tuesday 13th. Created by the company in 2021, the ground-breaking initiative provides free advisory services for the environmental regularization of rural producers. The program, which has already serviced over 6,000 properties in different parts of Brazil, has 18 offices installed at Friboi units across the country.
“Our current challenge is to produce more protein to feed a growing world population. We need to do this in a more sustainable manner and help to slow down global warming. And the solution to this challenge necessarily involves innovation, which is why we have invested in creating the Green Offices that contribute to the production of more food while preserving the biomes where the rural properties are located”, says Renato Costa, CEO of Friboi, a JBS company.
Costa stresses that the recognitions received in the innovation category at the Best in ESG Awards gives the company a reason to be very satisfied, confirming that the efforts being made are on the right path.
Created in 2020, the Best in ESG Awards of Exame magazine elects those companies with inclusive practices that are working towards the circular and collaborative economy. The award is one of the most prestigious in the sustainability field in Brazil. Since last year, the awards ceremony has become a partnership with Ibmec, one of Brazil’s leading business schools.
