JBS and EZVolt reach an agreement to expand the number of recharging stations for the electric trucks of No Carbon

No Carbon, a JBS company specialized in renting 100% electric vehicles, has reached an agreement with EZVolt, an electric mobility startup of the renewable energy portfolio of Vibra, to provide recharging stations for its truck fleet. With over 100 chargers installed in three months, a further 30 outlets will be installed by the end of the year, making a total of 130 recharging stations. So far, EZVolt has positioned its chargers at 11 JBS distribution centers in ten states. One of the world’s largest food companies, JBS was already a Vibra client in the B2B segment for the supply of lubricants and diesel, and now EZVolt will also service it on this front within the energy transition process.

Founded in 2022, No Carbon is an affiliate company of JBS Novos Negócios and currently operates 260 exclusively electricity-powered refrigerated trucks. The fleet is responsible today for distributing products of the Friboi, Seara and Swift brands in trips between urban centers in different regions of the country . “Our objective is to continue expanding our sustainable, low-carbon logistics solutions, which is why we are investing in extending our truck recharging network”, explains Armando Volpe, sales director of No Carbon at JBS.

To charge up the electric trucks of No Carbon, EZVolt has installed chargers at the distribution centers of Seara and Friboi in Rio de Janeiro , Santa Catarina, Pará, Mato Grosso do Sul, Mato Grosso, Ceará, Pernambuco, Bahia, the Federal District and São Paulo. In these regions the No Carbon fleet can also count on the support of a network of ultra-fast recharging hubs that can recharge the vehicle’s battery in up to one hour in the event the need arises to recharge along the route.

“We are evolving in the services we provide our clients. We want to assist them in their mission of delivering on their commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. We are working on a daily basis to serve them in the best possible way, and the agreement between EZVolt and JBS is proof that we are on the right path ”, says Bernardo Winik, B2B Vice President of Vibra. “In addition, I’m sure that EZVolt’s prior experience in serving large electric fleets and its nationwide presence were crucial factors for JBS choosing us”, he adds.

Since No Carbon was launched in 2022, the company’s trucks have covered around 3.4 million kilometers to deliver JBS products, equivalent to 80 laps of the planet. Thus, the company avoided releasing around 2,000 tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) into the atmosphere by substituting fossil fuels with electricity, the equivalent of planting 270,200 trees, reinforcing the more sustainable footprint of the electric fleet.

The agreement between JBS and EzVolt adheres to the “charging-as-a-service” modality in which the startup supports the company at every phase of the fleet migration, ranging from technical and operational feasibility studies to delivery of the recharging equipment. EZVolt is responsible for the investment in acquiring and installing the equipment, in addition to providing recharge management software so that No Carbon can access all vehicle energy consumption reports. All JBS recharging hubs are monitored 24 hours a day by an EZVolt control center, thereby ensuring the reliability of the recharging service which has an operating service level of up to 97% of the time.

“Our option of injecting our own resources and bearing the cost of the investment in setting up the recharging network demonstrates that we are aligned with the new culture in which businesses opt to contract out a quality service instead of purchasing their own equipment and internalizing a complex operation like this”, says Gustavo Tannure, CEO of EZVolt.
