Friboi, the JBS company and market leader in Brazil’s beef cattle segment, has taken yet another step to contribute to the digitalization of Brazilian livestock farming. The company has just launched the latest version of the Friboi Livestock Farmer app whose newest functionality is a cattle management tool for direct suppliers of the business, as well as real-time information for the entire livestock farming chain, like weather forecasts and market news.
The updated version of the app brings together key performance indicators to assist in the process of managing over 80,000 suppliers registered with Friboi. Using a single channel, the breeder can monitor the status of their herd from when the cattle are shipped to the industry until the batch is paid for. The information to which the livestock farmer has access includes the evolution of the fattening process, the precise moment for the cattle to be processed at the Friboi industrial unit, the state of the carcass and, using charts, manage the result obtained from each animal. All the data are stored on the app.
“The relationship between industry and cattle breeders is no longer only a commercial one. It is increasingly important for the two links in the production chain to be on the same wavelength in order to provide quality service to the growing domestic and international demand for beef,” explains Friboi’s origination officer, Eduardo Pedroso. The origination area is responsible for purchasing beef cattle for the business.
Another new departure is how the system integrates with the Boitel cattle management system, a commercial and technological inclusion tool of JBS that benefits producers with feedlot cattle, without the need for disbursement and with a complete termination, sanitary protocol and fattening traceability service certified for Europe (TRACES list). This functionality allows breeders to check the weight gain of their animals, health data and the predictability of slaughter.
“The feedlot advances fattening time in pasture by at least one-and-a-half years. The JBS Boiteis in proximity to the units certified for China contain a tool that classifies cattle for export, as well as access to the added value in the sale for the partner livestock farmer”, points out Pedroso.
One of the key facilities the Friboi Livestock Farmer app offers for the cattle breeder’s day-to-day business is a farm management documentation hub. An easy-to-use system in the palm of the hand enables the producer to access the documents of his negotiation with Friboi. These include billing information (tax receipts), packing lists and the commercial terms between the parties – in a single, secure location.
It is also possible to use the app to check in real time the Farol da Qualidade (Quality Spotlight), a Friboi tool that explains the parameters of sex, maturity, weight and fat finish of the herd sold to the company . On analyzing these four parameters, the colors green, yellow or red are attributed to the batch and, in a very simple manner, the industry can provide the livestock farmer with feedback about what they got right and opportunities for improvement in rearing the herd.
With yet another novelty, the Friboi Livestock Farmer app provides access to market information which is also made available to producers who are not yet suppliers of JBS. Under a partnership with Canal Rural TV channel, the app provides free news, tips, weather forecasts and other data updated by the team of the “Giro do Boi” program broadcast daily by the TV channel.
For those who are not yet part of the Friboi supplier base, the app has a user service area. Registration is on the app itself and channeled to the team that will get in touch later. The app is free and is available on both the iOS and Android systems, even for producers with no business dealings with the company.
