JBS Ambiental, the company of the JBS Novos Negócios group responsible for converting waste from the production units of JBS to value-added products, received the award at the “Plástico Sul” Innovation and Sustainability Awards Ceremony that acknowledges innovative and sustainable actions by companies that manufacture plastics in Brazil’s southern region.  The Company came first in the Sustainable Management – Recycler category, with its Green Flooring.

This award is a tremendous achievement for JBS Ambiental, which has succeeded in raising the concept of the Circular Economy within JBS thanks to the Green Flooring, a product manufactured from materials that are difficult to recycle, such as scraps of multilayer packaging (PVDC) and plastic used for vacuum-sealed raw products. The award demonstrates the company’s efforts to be always on the alert to identify opportunities and come up with technical solutions for the best way to dispose of waste”, says Susana Carvalho, director at JBS Ambiental.

JBS Ambiental has come up with an innovative process that enables PVDC plastic to be recycled and converted to material for the civil construction sector. Ideal for application in open-air environments, like paving for yards, the Green Flooring is in use at JBS units nationwide. The product offers the same resistance as a material made from 100% concrete.

Plástico Sul” Innovation and Sustainability is an annual awards ceremony held by the magazine, “Plástico Sul”. In its second edition, the hybrid event took place yesterday, November 9th, with the participation of Fabio Maranho, R&D coordinator of JBS Ambiental representing the company.
